Losing weight has never been easier than with Take Shape For Life. With the 5 & 1 Plan, there

is no calorie counting, no points system, no diet pills and no confusion. The program consists of

clinically proven foods designed to help you lose 2-5 lbs per week.

 

Here’s all you have to do:

5 Medifast Meals per day (any 5 meals; limit 1 bar per day)

 

1 “Lean & Green” per day

Lean – 5, 6 or 7 ounces of a lean, leaner or leanest meat option.

 

Add 0 – 2 servings of fat daily depending on your choice.

 

Green – any 3 servings of allowed vegetables each day.

Do’s and Don’ts of Weight Loss

Do’s & Don’ts for Weight Loss

The 5&1 Plan allows for a flexible weight-loss program where you can “mix & match” any of our

Medifast Meals 5 times per day.

 

Hint:

· Eating extra carbohydrates. Just one slice of bread or a single piece of fruit can put you out of ketosis,

you risk losing energy, becoming more hungry, having stronger cravings and experiencing slower

weight loss.

 

DO

· Make sure to have 3 Medifast Meals by 2:00 PM, as part of your daily routine.

 

DO

· Be sure to enjoy 1 of our products every 3-4 hours. Never go over 4 hours without eating.

 

DO

· Eat Slowly! It should take no less than 15 minutes to finish a product.

 

Help Hint: Use a straw for shakes or cut up bars into small pieces to help you slow down while eating.

 

DO

· Drink lots of water! Drink about 64 ounces of water a day.

 

DO

· Use the “free foods” as snacks if needed (up to 3 stalks of celery, Medifast Fast Soups, Medifast

Crackers, diet drinks, a small green salad, a dill pickle, etc.).

 

DO

· Start your Transition Plan once you reach your goal weight.

 

DO

· Exercise at least 3 times per week.

 

Helpful Hint: Walking is a great way to stay in shape and keep stress levels low.

Are the products safe?

What is Super Citrimax?

Citrimax contains a natural appetite suppressant made from the vine of a South Asian fruit. Super Citrimax works without stimulating the central nervous system so it does not cause problems with heart rate, blood pressure or other symptoms such as insomnia or nervousness.

Are there any special guidelines for Take Shape for Life customers over age 65?

Maintaining a healthy weight is beneficial for people of all ages. Everyone needs to obtain a healthy weight to live life to its fullest. The Take Shape for Life program helps their customers reach their healthy weight. As a person grows older, it is imperative that they remain healthy as they lose their weight. This is why Take Shape for Life has set up some guidelines for customers over the age of 65:

  • Maintain a minimum of 1200 Calories a day while on the program.
  • Use Medifast Products (Shakes, Bars, Soups, Oatmeal, Chili, etc.) in addition to a meal plan, which includes protein and salad or vegetables

Ketosis and Weight Loss

What is ketosis?

The nutrient balance of Medifast combined with the low-calorie level causes the fat stores to release free fatty acids that are converted by the liver into an energy source called ketones. This mild state of “ketosis” helps the body achieve rapid weight loss while preserving muscle tissue. Ketosis also helps eliminate physical hunger while providing good levels of energy.

Is ketosis harmful?

No, the level of ketosis achieved is very mild – just strong enough to protect you from losing muscle tissue. This mild level of ketosis has not been shown to cause harm to the body.

How long does it take to get ketosis built?

Plan for about three days of being on Medifast for building the ketosis level. If you falloff the plan, it will generally take two to three days to rebuild the level again to the point where you no longer feel hunger or fatigue
